FRIENDS OF GOD
Passing into holy souls from age to age, wisdom produces friends of God and prophets.
Deacon John Ruscheinsky
To be a friend of God, we need to cultivate wisdom and goodness in our lives. Seeking wisdom means being in pursuit of what is "intelligent, holy, unique, clear, good, kindness, and peaceful" - and a whole lot more, as the Book of Wisdom exuberantly details for us.
We are called to preserve the integrity of the faith, to defend the unity of the Church, which was needed in the early church and is also needed today as well. Jesus Christ is one person with two natures, divine and yet human like us. That is why we pray, "we believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, /... true God from true God... For us... and for our salvation/ He came down from heaven and by the Holy Spirit/was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man."
In the Book of Wisdom we hear the following words. And passing into holy souls from age to age, wisdom produces friends of God and prophets. For wisdom is the refulgence of eternal light, the spotless mirror of the power of our heavenly Father. This will show us throughout history the richness of our faith.
Points to Pray and Ponder: for our Church and its integrity, to bring unity to all God's people. As we read in the Responsorial Psalm: Your word is for ever. Let my soul live to praise You. For we are friends of God!
