LET IT BE KNOWN THIS DAY
Jesus teaches us reverence for God's law of love and the meaning of true freedom... Let it be known this day that we will walk in the path of life as Jesus showed us by following God's Commandments!
Deacon John Ruscheinsky
How do you view the "Law of God," negatively or positively? In Paul's Second Letter to the Corinthians, his main concern is to defend his ministry as an Apostle. Paul's credentials are challenged and he responds by affirming that his qualifications come from God alone. He is called to be a minister of the New Covenant!
Jesus teaches us reverence for God's law of love and the meaning of true freedom. We witness His numerous examples of honor and complete abandonment to God during His earthly ministry. We see Jesus' devout reverence for the Lord's Day; His respect for parents, for life and for property, for another person's good name, and respect for oneself and for one's neighbor. Reverence and respect for God's Commandments teach us the way of love - love of God and love of each other.
What is impossible for humans is possible for God and for those of us who have faith in our heavenly Father. God gives us the grace to love as He loves, to forgive as He forgives, to think as He thinks, and to act as He acts. In the Responsorial Psalm we acclaim, "Holy is the Lord our God" (Ps 99:9c), for He is forgiving. Let it be known this day that we will walk in the path of life as Jesus showed us by following God's Commandments!
