WE WAIT WITH ENDURANCE
The work of the sower is slow and taxing at times, but it becomes
bearable with the promise of the future crop.
What can mustard
seeds and leaven teach us about God's kingdom?
Things are not
always what they seem. According to the Gospel of Luke, this is certainly true
of the kingdom of God. A mustard seed eventually grows into a substantial bush,
and yeast transforms the size of the bread dough, making it double in size. So
it will be with God's kingdom. How do we know this is, in fact, true? Because
our belief is rooted in hope.
St. Paul makes
reference to hope in the first reading for today: He says, "But if we hope
for what we do not see, we wait with endurance." Endurance is a power that
keeps our hope alive!
In the Responsorial
Psalm we acclaim: The Lord has done marvels for us. God touches our life and
releases the streams of grace to bring joy in our lives. The work of the sower
is slow and taxing at times, but it becomes bearable with the promise of the
future crop.
Points to Pray and Ponder: May we know that to reap we have to sow and to
have joy and singing we have to weep first. When we yield to Jesus Christ, our
lives are transformed!
