Daily reflection _ called to live a gospel life

CALLED TO LIVE A GOSPEL LIFE
When we sit, eat, sleep and when we entertain our family and friends, remember that Jesus is also the guest of our homes!
Deacon John Ruscheinsky
In today's Gospel, we read about living out our call to a Gospel life. "I give praise to You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although You have hidden these things from the wise and the learned You have revealed them to the childlike" (Mt 11:25). We are given the gift of faith to believe in Jesus Christ and our heavenly Father: "All things have been handed over to Me by My Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and who the Father is except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal Him" (Lk 10:22).
Jesus desires that we make a place for Him, not only in our hearts, but in our homes and in the daily circumstances of our lives as well.  "Come to Me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am meek and humble of heart..." (Mt 11:28-29a). This is about living a life of faith!
We have read in the Psalms: "You are my inheritance, O Lord. You will show me the path to life" (Ps 16:5a, 11). It's the Lord who hears our voice and it is He who shows us His kindness and mercy. He brings us comfort and shows us God's hospitality. Great are the works of the Lord Jesus, and with these works, we become faithful and just toward all people.
Today, the Church honors Saint Francis of Assisi. Francis was poor only that he might be Christ-like. He recognized creation as another manifestation of the beauty of God. His poverty had a sister, humility, by which he meant total dependence on the good God. But all this was, as it were, preliminary to the heart of his spirituality - living the Gospel life, summed up in the charity of Jesus Christ and perfectly expressed in the Eucharist.
We too, are called to live a Gospel life each and every day. When we sit, eat, sleep and when we entertain our family and friends, remember that Jesus is also the guest of our homes!
