Daily reflection _ accountability

"ACCOUNTABILITY"
God honors those of us who use our talents and gifts for doing good work. May we be faithful with even a little so we can be trusted with more!
Deacon John Ruscheinsky
Our Christian belief in our heavenly Father's initiative never means that our accountability is wiped out or taken away. The stories we hear throughout the week, about the vigorous opposition of the Maccabees toward their persecutors, shows us that what God does for us does not take away what we can and must do for Him. The story in the Gospel of Luke, today, tells us about what the new King expects from his team. It illustrates the same point - they must be accountable and responsible for what they do with what they've been given. They need to use their talents/gifts, making them multiply and do good works.
Today's parable reveals something important about how our heavenly Father works His plan and purpose for all His people. The parable of the talents speaks about being responsible and remaining faithful and reliable in the use of money entrusted to one's care. Jesus Christ offers us a Kingdom of justice, love and peace and He calls us to live as citizens with Him. God honors those of us who use our talents and gifts for doing good work. May we be faithful with even a little so we can be trusted with more!
It is God's grace that makes good use of the gifts and talents He has given you and I. All we need to do is respond to His call, and when we do, not one of us can stand still for long in the Christian life! Then our "joy will be full" (Ps 1715b)!
