YOUR NAME IS WRITTEN
We are God's children! Turning
to you and me, Jesus says, "Blessed are the eyes that see what you
see" and "rejoice because your name is written in heaven" (Lk
10:23b, 20b).
In today's first reading from
the Prophet Baruch, we hear him inform the people to not be afraid and to hang
on to hope! "Fear not, my children; call out to God! He who brought this
upon you will remember you...For He who has brought disaster upon you will, in
saving you, bring you back enduring joy" (Bar 4:27, 29).
Luke's Gospel highlights
Jesus' words of consolation. He makes clear that the true source of our joy can
only be found in God, our Father, and in Him alone. Likewise, God always
assures us of victory in His Son, Jesus. Christ assures His disciples and us,
today, that He has all power over the evil in this world.
Jesus' prayer in the Gospel
is about joy and praise. Like Jesus Christ, we too, rejoice in the Holy Spirit
and say, "I give You praise, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although
You've hidden these things from the wise and the learned You have revealed them
to the childlike" (Lk 10:21). We are God's children! Turning to you and
me, Jesus says, "Blessed are the eyes that see what you see" and
"rejoice because your name is written in heaven" (Lk 10:23b, 20b).
