Daily reflection _ teach me your ways

TEACH ME YOUR WAYS
We know that we will find Jesus today in everyone we meet, especially the most vulnerable. But are we willing to sacrifice our time and resources for their welfare, loving them with all our heart and soul, mind and strength?
Deacon John Ruscheinsky
There is a statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus that is placed near the front entrance of our retreat center. Inscribed at the base of the statue are the words "Discite a Me" which means "Learn from Me." In today's Responsorial Psalm we acclaim, "Blessed are you who fear the Lord, who walk in His ways" (Ps 128:1). God's ways guide us and teach us to walk in His path each and every day. He guides us along the way, keeping His covenant with us and asking us to keep our covenant with Him.
We have heard the two great commandments all our lives. Every one of us could have answered the seeking scribe. But how seriously have we taken those commandments to heart?  We need to be faithful to Jesus Christ, to be willing to give our whole life to Him. We know that we will find Jesus today in everyone we meet, especially the most vulnerable. But are we willing to sacrifice our time and resources for their welfare, loving them with all our heart and soul, mind and strength? How can we say we love God if we do not love those around us?
Our challenge with all of this is to live out the Corporal Works of Mercy:
Feed the hungry
Give drink to the thirsty
Clothe the naked
Shelter the homeless
Visit the sick
Visit the imprisoned
Bury the dead
