Daily reflection _ plant and cultivate good seed

PLANT AND CULTIVATE GOOD SEED
May we always pray and ponder on God's interests and comprehend the things that are most important in life's purpose.
Deacon John Ruscheinsky
Today we can benefit from paying some attention to the kind of seed we sow with our thoughts, our words, our actions, and our withholding of action. In the verses just preceding today's first reading from the letter to Timothy, St. Paul speaks of seeds like envy, rivalry, evil suspicions, mutual friction among people, using religion for personal gain, and, of course, the one that drives so much of national economies, namely, greed. If we plant these seeds we will have a harvest of heartbreak, poverty, violence and so on. Thank God there are other seeds, definitely preferred by our heavenly Father and God's inspired Scripture: righteousness, devotion, faith, love, patience, and gentleness.
May we always pray and ponder on God's interests and comprehend the things that are most important in life's purpose. If we find ourselves too busy to pray or too preoccupied to study and meditate on God's word we might think of the following. Jesus says in the Gospel of Luke: "Whoever has ears to hear ought to hear." May we listen in order to understand. Our heavenly Father gives grace to those of us who hunger and thirst for His word that we may understand His will and have the strength to live according to it.
Do we hunger and thirst for God's Word?
If so then we will plant and cultivate good seeds and we will have a harvest of good relations, peace of mind and spirit, and in time the ultimate prize - eternal life. In today's Responsorial Psalm we acclaim: Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise.
