Daily reflection _ humble seed and hidden yeast

HUMBLE SEED AND HIDDEN YEAST
Both a humble agent like the seed and a hidden activity like the yeast, yield impressive results.
Deacon John Ruscheinsky
Today Jesus Christ paints a picture of how the kingdom that once came to the world through his life and ministry is still at work among us and will not fail. Small seeds grow into plants that offer refuge; hidden bits of yeasts change an entire batch of dough. For us who follow our Lord, who spread and scatter his message in the little things we do, this is encouragement. A tiny seed of forgiveness planted or small acts of peace scattered like yeast matter.
To grasp the message of the parables on today's Gospel of Matthew requires an imagination. Both a humble agent like the seed and a hidden activity like the yeast, yield impressive results. Jesus invites us to take on the humble, hidden work of providing sheltering presence and nourishing bread in and for the world.
Let us give thanks to the Lord, for he is good!
