Daily reflection _ vocation by God's grace

VOCATION BY GOD'S GRACE
God will show you and I the path to life, a fullness of His Goodness.
Deacon John Ruscheinsky
In today's Responsorial Psalm we acclaim: You are my inheritance, O Lord (Ps 16.) God will show you and I the path to life, a fullness of His Goodness. His word are truth and He consecrates us in truth.
On September 13th, the church honors St. John Chrysostom, Bishop and Doctor. This year it falls on a Sunday. So I thought I would reflect on this saint with today's scriptures. His followers gave him the surname, "The Golden Mouth." John's preaching, "by word and example, exemplifies the role of the prophet to comfort the disturbed and to disturb the comfortable. For honesty and courage he paid the price of a turbulent ministry as bishop, personal vilification and exile." Hatred stemming from the royal court and other envious persons forced him into exile twice; worn out by exile and ill-treatment, he died at Comana in Pontus on September 14, 407. By following the great teacher Christ Jesus he accomplished much in his writing to explain the Catholic faith.
From the Gospel of Luke we learn that No disciple is superior to the teacher; but when fully trained, every disciple will be like his teacher.
