Who do you admire the most? Recall Mary's canticle: "...all generations will call me blessed" (LK 1:48). Jesus Christ adds to Mary's words by pointing to the source of all true blessedness and happiness, which is union with God our Father in heart, mind and will. Mary humbly submitted herself to the miraculous plan of God for the Incarnation of His only Son - the Word of God made flesh in her womb - by declaring, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word" (Lk 1:38). Mary heard the word spoken to her by the angel and she believed it!
Our goal in life - the very reason for which we were created in the first place - is union with our heavenly Father. We were made for God and our hearts are restless until they rest in Him. Our adoption as sons and daughters of God transforms all our relationships and requires a new order of loyalty to Him. It's a hunger for God and for His Word!
May we remember the salvation that God grants is directly related to the concrete, faithful living out of His loving commands. The goodness in all this is that salvation is within the reach of every person. It is not about how much we know or whether we belong to the right group or say the acceptable words. It is all about how we live our lives in accordance with God's holy will.
In today's Responsorial Psalm we acclaim, "Light dawns for the just; and gladness, for the upright of heart. Rejoice in the Lord, you just" (Ps 97:11, 12a). Our daily life demonstrates what we really believe!
