Daily reflection _ called to live a gospel life

CALLED TO LIVE A GOSPEL LIFE
Jesus Christ desires that we make a place for Him, not only in our hearts, but in our homes and in the daily circumstances of our lives as well.
Deacon John Ruscheinsky
In today's Gospel we read about living out our call to a Gospel life. Martha loved to serve and Mary, in her simple and trusting manner, waited on Jesus by sitting attentively at His feet. Jesus Christ desires that we make a place for Him, not only in our hearts, but in our homes and in the daily circumstances of our lives as well. Jesus loved to visit the home of Martha and Mary and enjoyed their gracious hospitality, and He knew their deep and abiding faith. They honored Him and we also honor Him when we offer Him everything we have and everything we do for others.
In the Responsorial Psalm we acclaim, "Out of the depths I cry to You, O Lord" (Ps 130:1). It's the Lord who hears our voice and shows us His kindness and mercy. He brings us comfort and displays God's hospitality. Great are the works of the Lord Jesus, and with these works we become faithful and just toward all peoples.
Living a Gospel life causes us to reflect on poverty, which has a sister, humility. This means a total dependence on God. But all this was, as it were, preliminary to the heart of spirituality. Living a Gospel life was and is summed up in the charity of Jesus Christ, and perfectly expressed in the Eucharist.
We, too, are called to live a Gospel life each and every day. When we sit, eat, sleep and when we entertain our family and friends, remember that Jesus is also the Guest of our homes!
