Daily reflection _ God's covenant is forever

GOD'S COVENANT IS FOREVER
Nothing will be impossible for God... God becomes man and the door opens for all people to enter into the life of God, which is eternal life.
Deacon John Ruscheinsky
Knowing the steadfast love of God is the greatest gift! God's love endures forever because He is a covenant-making Father who keeps His promises. God showed special favor to David when He anointed him to be king of Israel. After David had established peace in the land, he wanted to build a house for God, but God reassured him that it was He who would build a house for David; not a house made of stone but of flesh, which would last forever.
Today, in the Gospel of Luke, Mary's prompt response, "Yes," to the Divine message is a model of faith for all of us. Mary believed God's promises even when they seemed to be impossible. She was full of grace because she trusted that what God said was true and would be fulfilled. She was willing to do His will, even if it seemed impossible. Mary is the "Mother of God" because God became incarnate when He took on our human flesh in her womb.
Nothing will be impossible for God. On this last Sunday before we celebrate Christmas, Scripture speaks of the ways God moves beyond limitations. King David, with the Prophet Nathan's approval, wants to build God a Temple, yet God will not be confined or put into a box. The age-old mysteries are revealed. A virgin conceives. The royal house of David is continued, even surpassed, through a young, poor woman. God becomes man and the door opens for all people to enter into the life of God, which is eternal life.
Ponder on these questions: In what ways am I like David? In what ways do I emulate Mary?
