Daily reflection _ encouragement to live faithfully

ENCOURAGEMENT TO LIVE FAITHFULLY
St. Paul promises that, as we watch for Jesus, our Heavenly Father will keep us firm to the end.
Deacon John Ruscheinsky
In today's reading from St. Paul's first Letter to the Corinthians, he says, "You are not lacking in any spiritual gift" (1 Cor 1:7). At every moment of our life journey, we are called to stay awake and alert to Christ's presence. The image in today's Gospel shows a servant living faithfully while he waits for the return of the Master. Here is an image for our own life of faith. We are servants waiting for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, and we strive to live a good and holy way of life so we can be ready at anytime!
Today we honor St. Augustine. He provides something for us to think about as we reflect on the Scriptures: "Learn to fix the eye of faith on the Divine Word of the Holy Scriptures as on a light shining in a dark place until the day dawns and the daystar arises in our hearts" (Letter 130, 2.5).
St. Paul promises that, as we watch for Jesus, our Heavenly Father will keep us firm to the end.  The Psalmist tells us in our Response, "I will praise Your name forever, Lord. Every day I will bless you, and I will praise Your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord and highly to be praised" (Ps 145:1 - 3a).
