CHRIST PULSATES IN US
Children are our spiritual teachers. They know how to approach the Kingdom of God and accept It.
Deacon John Ruscheinsky
God loves the little children He has created! Today, with the Gospel as a source of reflection, we can't help but think of children and God's Kingdom. What does Jesus Christ say to the adults? "Let the children come to Me; do not prevent them, for the Kingdom of God belongs to such as these" (Mk 10:14b). We can all deeply ponder Jesus' words. He reminds us that children are our spiritual teachers. They know how to approach the Kingdom of God and accept It as our heavenly Father intends. In fact, unless we come to understand what it is about children that God considers so important, and unless we willingly adopt that childlike something, we will not enter the Kingdom of God.
Today's first reading from the Book of Sirach beautifully details some of what God has given us as humans - life, strength, power, understanding, a covenant, and commandments. The implication in all this is strong and clear. We have received from our heavenly Father in order to be able to give and to be good stewards of all this. We have all been given freedom and responsibility as His children. Sirach tells us that God has given us strength and power over all other things on earth. It is our responsibility to use it all as God gifted it for - the good of all people and to bring peace to our land.
The reception of daily Eucharist, or that of every Sunday, confirms the awesome responsibilities we have with respect to our families, those around us, and our own selves, which are supported by our union with Jesus Christ. We are not alone with this huge task. In the Responsorial Psalm we proclaim: "The Lord's kindness is everlasting to those who fear Him" (Ps 103:17). Our heavenly Father's justice is towards His children - those who accept it and who keep His covenant.
The life of Christ Jesus pulsates in the depth of our being!
