Daily reflection _ do not worry

"DO NOT WORRY"
Can you and I go to sleep tonight with total trust in God knowing He is in charge of it all? Wow, a lot of questions to think about!
Deacon John Ruscheinsky
Jesus tells us, "Do not worry" (Mt. 6:25). What is it that we are not to worry about? Jesus is speaking of the very essentials that sustain our lives - food, drink, and clothing! The deeper truth in the Gospel message is that we do not even have control over these necessities. We cannot extend our life span even by a day or hour! So the real question for us is, do we trust God, Who gives to all living things? Can we trust God with the challenges we will meet today? Can we trust God with our plans and our hopes? What about the work we are called to do in God's plan, like loving those around us as we love ourselves; to help ensure that everyone else has these essentials in life? Can you and I go to sleep tonight with total trust in God knowing He is in charge of it all? Wow, a lot of questions to think about!
Who is the master in charge of our lives right now? Our "master" is whatever governs our thought-life, shapes our ideals, and controls the desires of our heart and the values we choose to live by. We can be ruled by many different things - the love of money and possessions; the power of position and prestige; harmful desires and addictions. We have choices in our lives and it all boils down to two, God or "mammon," which stands for wealth and materialism and tends to control our desires.
The true Master is our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He is the One Who brings healing and peace from all those who would keep us bound up in fear and anxiety. Jesus used an illustration from nature - the birds and flowers - to show how our heavenly Father provides for His children in the natural order of all that He has created. God provides ample food, water, and light to sustain all the living. God's nature is to love, heal, forgive, and make whole again.
In today's Responsorial Psalm, we are assured that God's love will endure forever. May we let go of unnecessary stress and let God take care of you and I.
